PropDog Ltd originally had a partnership with JM Authentics, to help Jordan produce some of his pads. But we’ve now gone our separate ways, purchasing a licensing agreement from Jordan to produce many of JM Authentic’s original range. A few years on and with new processes and technologies, PropDog are now the leading manufacturer of close up pads/mats in the world! Our stylish designs are expertly assembled onsite at the PropDog Workshop in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Each PropDog Hard Back Pad is meticulously handcrafted to an extremely high standard and consists of a front and back board, the back board usually being made from leather, with the front being made from either suede or upholstery velvet.
The leather backing we use is eco friendly recycled hard wearing leather originally designed for the automotive industry, so it can take a lot of wear and tear. This is a high quality leather, not like the faux leather often used in alternative close up pads from other manufacturers.
The backing boards are precisely laser cut to ensure exact dimensions, perfectly rounded corners and a perfect, snug fit of the two surfaces. The edges of the pads are gently bevelled to ensure a comfortable edge to lean on and maximum durability. With a non bevelled edge, wear and tear can occur over time with repeated pressure on a sharp 90 degree edge.
We use the finest wadding available to give a smooth, even and comfortable surface to work on, with just the right level of firmness to for card play. For the coin workers out there who want a little extra wadding for a softer pad, no problem! We can make the pads as soft or had as you want, just ask.
When it comes to fabric, with purchased thousands of samples and made hundreds of pads to find just the right velvet and suede with just the right feel, softness, nap and friction.
